Information Science Course

Electrical and Electronics Engineering Course

The electrical and electronics engineering is the foundation for versatile technology fields. The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Course provides the following three major research and education fields and promotes research in system science and informatics that aim for realization of research and education:

  1. Advanced materials and devices;
  2. Generation of electric energy, power electronics, and power systems; and
  3. Knowledge information systems and acknowledgment systems

Architecture and Civil Engineering Course

This course will quest for the ideal shape of new living space in the 21st century for architecture, urban cities, regions, and the nation from the aspects of natural science, arts, technology, and social science and humanities. The course studies structure, safety, function, comfort, disaster prevention, industrial design, and various historical aspects of living spaces. Based on the results of the above described studies, the course further provides education on theoretical research and comprehensive practice regarding planning and designing.

Materials Science and Engineering Course

This course provides education and researches on the following engineering fields. (1) Synthesizing methods of inorganic, organic and polymeric materials. (2) Structure and physical properties of materials. (3) Materials design and production process development for the high-performance/high-functional materials. (4) Chemical analysis and environmental measurement technologies.

Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology Course

The course provides education and researches that are based on physiochemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry, aiming for making chemical industry to be friendly to global environment by applying biotechnology. The course also promotes elucidation of vital functions and their effective utilization, mimicry of vital functions, and further design and establishment of new systems that outreach living bodies.

Applied Physics Course

The objective of the course is to give interdisciplinary education and researches covering a wide range of fields from basics of physics to applications. The course aims to understand various materials and their components on the macro- and micro-viewpoints and apply them to physics engineering.

Human and Artificial Intelligent System Course

The course provides education and conducts research to elucidate the functions and mechanisms related to the intelligence of human beings and living organisms and to develop intelligent artificial systems, including robots that are friendly to the environment and human beings. This is an interdisciplinary field that integrates science and technology from hard engineering, such as machines, electronics, and information, to soft engineering, including bioscience, recognition science, and complex science.

Fiber Amenity Engineering Course

The objective of the course is cultivation of human resources who have firm engineering abilities and a sense of ethics with interdisciplinary and comprehensive research and development abilities to design, maintain, and develop a comfortable human society through advanced information technology using fibers as the basic materials. In particular, the course will break ground and develop comprehensive research and education devoted to the development of new fiber materials and attaching higher functions, optical information engineering including high-performance plastic optical fiber, and further to creation of amenities (status of comfort as the total sense of human beings).

Nuclear Power and Energy Safety Engineering Course

The course provides practical and multilateral education and research concerning various issues, including assurance of safety in atomic power stations and areas where the stations are located, seeking convivial society systems, stabilization of power networks, and vitalization of local industries through technology transfer, as a university located in Fukui Prefecture where many atomic power stations are located. The objective of the course is to cultivate advanced professional engineers who have a thorough knowledge of safety engineering and configuration of regional symbiotic systems related to atomic power and energy and who also have wider vision and a high sense of ethics.
