Materials Science and Engineering

Course introduction

[Key Technologies for developing new technology and harmonizing between people and the global environment]
Innovative technologies involving materials cover all engineering fields, including nanotechnology, biotechnology, information and communication technology, electronics, energy engineering, civil and building technology, mechanical engineering, and robotics. Materials are essential for achieving these new technologies and harmony between humans and the global environment.

[A broad range of basic studies with a focus on chemistry].
Materials Development Engineering develops a series of processes, such as the synthesis of chemical products, evaluation of their physical properties, application, and production. With a focus on chemistry, this field includes a wide range of fundamental studies as well as physics, mathematics, and biology. We consider the relationship between the environment and humans in research and development, and education and research in this course cover chemical products from downstream to upstreams.

[Creating new materials with flexible ideas and intellectual curiosity]
Today, we face the problems of resource and energy depletion and escalating global environmental issues. To solve these social problems and contribute to creating a prosperous society through materials development, we need an energetic intellectual curiosity and flexible ideas that are free from conventional frameworks. We foster researchers and engineers who take on the challenges of unprecedented problems by developing new materials with dreams.
